Blast in Russia’s south kills one

An explosion has killed a man in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan. The home-made device containing 3.5 kilos of TNT equivalent went off in the capital Makhachkala close to a government building, killing a jogger. The man killed has been identified as 48-year-old businessman Zaur Abdullaev.

Police thwarted an attack in the republic on Thursday when a bomb squad defused a device containing 5kg of TNT found near a road.

Local police say a terrorist group may be attempting to destabilise the situation in the Caucasus republic.

Interesting article and post in light of the fact that I've been jogging all week. I did 34 miles in eight days. I am now down to 216 pounds from a starting point of 253 in early February. If someone blew me up with a bomb while jogging around my weight would be the least of my troubles. This whole "terror" thing is serious business. It is so asymetrical and indescriminante. It is an ancient device used by both those in power and those desiring power. Andrew, I hate it. I am not afraid of it, I am mad about it. From the quasi Christian man who murdered an abortionist to Jewish settlers desiring to rid themselves of Palestinian neighbors to Palestinians who believe that their suffering is so unique that they are entitled, I say, "To Hell With All of You!" In reading Taylor Branch's trilogy regarding civil rights he spends much time on Malcolm X and The Nation Of Islam. What a remarkable and scenciant difference between Elijah Mohamed's approach and MLK's. The difference is between black and white, left and right, right and wrong, up and down, heavy and light, good and evil. TNOI degenerated into an internal civil war, Malcolm X being not the last victim. Elijah and Louis X "Farrikan" turned to historical Islamic terror to impose their will on the organization. "See it our way or die." What will their end be? I have no use for Louis X for this reason. I have no use for the TNOI for this reason either. Though one can argue, as our friendly neighborhood Catholic Priest does regarding Louis X, that he has done great humanitarian deeds for "his people" those in Nazi Germany thought the same of that party and its leaders as Nazis "put chickens" back in German kitchen pots. Sometimes I think there is a huge disconnect with people. History means nothing. Techniques are never suspect. Minority opinions are accepted as truth simply because they are minority. To me some things just "aint right." Terror is one of them. So, where do we, as followers of Christ, stand on such things. Certainly not "to hell" with them all. That is my unrepentant self talking. Can we defend ourselves? Can we "take anothers life" in defence of life? Can we be hunters? Should we be all vegitarians so as not to spill blood at all? Whose side should we take? Or, should we just lay down our lives for the cause of Christ and leave it at that? I ramble.
