President Bush is an extremely healthy and athletic fellow for his age. He is in Papa's class regarding physical fitness and commitment. He is to be admired for this. I am not sure he knew exactly what it was that was being thrown, so ducking was the thing to do. At the same time it would have been cool if he had caught both of them, walked them back to the guy and said something to the effect, "Isn't it nice to have freedom of speech?" The reporter definitely had some heat on those throws. Had he hit President Bush it would have left a dent or cut for sure. Hopefully the guy gets a slap on the wrist and is set free. He will become a folk hero of sorts I am sure. That is all right. I get the anger. I really do.

I also get it that thousands and thousands of people were murdered under Sadam that we never heard about. It was a yearly, daily process then. There was no shoe throwing unless it was at one of Sadam's enemies. Also, Palestinian families were being rewarded $25,000 by the Iraqi government for the lose of their martyred child after he blew himself up with either an Iraqi or Iranian supplied explosive vest. Yes, and Udia and Cusay are no longer there to terrorize women, athletes or torture anyone they don't like. So, we have come a long way baby. Hopefully, it will last and grow for the sake of the Iraqi people. I pray that corruption will not dominate their social growth and that they will be able to be lead to a brighter future. We gotta stay the course for their sakes, not ours. We must be patient and brave. We must sacrific. I want to be able to love Iraq like I do Japan, China and Russia. I want to be able to go there some time, visit them, help them, learn from them. What history there is in that country! It is just going to take time. Perhaps it will be folks like you, Andrew, who will be able to help put the pieces of thier culture together in a more constructive way. That will be my prayer for them and for you.
