Sock and Awe

Posted by Andrew |

Support Muntathar al-Zaydi by throwing your own shoes at President Bush. Hard to believe that he is almost gone after 8 years of disastrous policies!

Enjoy the game.

I am soooo disappointed with you Andrew. That youuuuu would publish or spread such a web site. It seems to me that you have cheapened your over all efforts and are in danger of causing other readers of your posts to not take seriously the serious issues that you discuss. The thought of making fun of an assault on our president escapes me. Though there are policies that we disagree on certainly the respect for the office and the safety of its holder are values that we can both agree upon.

There was an interesting article about how under the Bush administration more money has gone to opening medical clinics for the poor than under any other president in modern history. There are over 1200 brand new, government funded, top drawer clinics in inner cities and poor rural areas that would not have existed except for Mr. Bush's compassionate conservativism. This is not to mention our nation's efforts to combat AIDS in Africa. To top it off his administration has spend more on education and social welfare programs than any other president in modern history. I will also remind you that "No Child Left Behind" may have its critics, but it was signed on to by none other than Senator Theodore Kennedy.

Mr. Bush put his actions where his mouth was and that includes telling Sadam that he was going to kick his ass if he didn't get out of Dodge. Some may question our military approach and some may blame him for the deaths of innocent people. That is all right. They have that right. But, it ain't that simple.

Again, I remind you that Mr. Bin Laden and his friends were attempting to kill between 25 and 50,000 people when those planes hit the World Trade Towers. They were also attempting to assasinate our president and his family or they were attempting to decapitate our nation's democracy by flying a plane into either the White House or the Capital rotunda. It is only the actions of hearty American citizens that the plane crashed in Pennsylvannia and not its objective. Do not forget that the attack on our nation was more than a political statement. It was an attempt to destroy the foundation of our Republic. I also don't accept that the foundations are crumbling becauses some SOB in Cuba or some other detention center was water boarded.

I am all for getting along with the Islamic and Arabic world. I am willing to take some hits and to humble myself. However, I am not willing to be humiliated any more than they are and from my perspective they do more self humiliation than anything else. What the hells up with blowing children up in Bagdad because you don't like the fact that they are getting an education. (just heard that one on the news) Or how about burning young girls alive because girls shouldn't go to school. (Thank you Wahabiests) I believe at many levels the powers in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Palestine and Saudi Arabia are just scapegoating us as they do the Jews in Israel. Until they see the error of their ways this will continue. It is very, very unproductive.

Throwing shoes at our president is just another form of scapegoating and a play to the cameras. The man who assaulted Mr. Bush may have had some sincere grievances, but he lost his right to being heard by me when he bent down and took the first shoe off. What will be our response when someone assaults President Elect Obama. Don't think for a moment that he is Mr. Perfect or that because he is part black that he will get a pass. If he does get a pass it is a racist pass and that is not good either.

As for the shoe thrower I wish him a good life. I hear that he got roughed up in jail. I won't blame Mr. Bush for that. I am positive he didn't insist that Mr. Malaki have the shit beat out of the guy. My guess is that Mr. Bush forgave the guy and maybe understands some of his motives and is sympathetic to them. We won't see the reporter until his black eyes heal up, but he will be seen again is my guess. That he spent time in jail is appropriate, don't you think. That he is still alive is appropriate too. That he will be free again is appropriate and a potential triumph for Iraq. Some free speech there could go a long way and let us pray that that speech is productive and healthy.

Also, I knnnnnnnooooowww you are just stickin it to me with that post! Since I am one of only a few who read it or at least comment. My tyraid has been a voluntary, PAVLOVIAN RESPONSE, that I think you were hoping to illict just for your own laughs...there you go. Ha, ha, LOLROTF. (that is Laughing Out Loud Rolling On The Floor for those of you who are not as text savy as I am.)

It was grand, very grand to be with you. Ski well at Tahoe. I pray for your safety, then get back to school and work. We need you to bridge that cultural gag that is harming the whole world right now.

Love,

Uncle Rightky! ha, ah
