I must say, I feel a little uneasy about posting this video, as it is rather insensitive and shocking, and fascinating all at the same time. It is a clip from the Israeli television show entitled "A Wonderful Country" which apparently is roughly equivalent to a mix of Saturday Night Live, Jon Stewart and South Park in the US.
I found the clip from a wonderful blog entitled Mondoweiss. You can get more background on the television show from there.
Watch the video, you'll end up feeling a little sick, a little disgusted and a little intrigued, not really having any idea of what just happened, and who made fun of who.

I found the clip to be rather humorous. That being said it is extremely cynical and one wonders whether cynicism at a time like this is appropriate.
I am reminded of the Apostle Paul's comment about those who claim to be speaking for the Gospel but who are in fact doing so for their own good. He indicated that whether their intent was good or not at least the name of Christ and his Gospel was being raised and preached. If there is some secondary motive for Israel to have people in Haiti helping, if there is some propaganda based motivation, still... injured people are being helped at a time when all the help that can be found is needed. I am also quite sure that those Israelis who find themselves helping in Haiti are personally and deeply moved by what they are experiencing and will take their experience home with them, their lives forever changed.
I am not a big fan of SNL and some of the other left leaning comedy shows we have in the United States. Still, some of their stuff is pretty good and often they do hit the nail on the head. Recently they have been taking Mr. Obama to the woodshed about hypocrisy, broken promises, and his weak handling of terrorism as a policy. Yes, I enjoy seeing some crow being eaten and I also appreciate it that Mr. Obama is being viewed a little less like a messiah by the left than he was before. Balance is good. My main point though is that there is something wonderful to be said about a nation, a culture, that can tolerate, even embrace this type of cynical, satyrical, political commentary. We have had it since our inception as a nation, Israel seems to have a good dose of it too. That is a good thing. That is balance.
One of the greatest rights we have is not freedom of speech. It is freedom after speech. That is something we should aggressively share with the balance of the world and something the Islamic nations need to come to terms with. It would be good for them.
The discussion on the term Cushi was interesting. So many cultural things I am so ignorant of. A Jew doing a bit in "black face" is pretty shocking... and funnier than hell. LOL.
