"U.S. officials said Friday that -- contrary to earlier Venezuelan government claims -- the aircraft of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been granted permission to enter U.S. airspace on Maduro's flight to China. A senior administration official said Friday that the State Department received a message from the Venezuela Embassy's charge de'affaires confirming satisfactory resolution of the issue Thursday night."

California signs state's first fracking rules | Al Jazeera America
"California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation Friday that will establish the state’s first rules detailing how oil drillers use hydraulic fracturing, otherwise known as fracking, to crack underground rock formations and free up oil and natural gas. The bill from Sen. Fran Pavley, D-Agoura Hills, requires drillers to disclose the chemicals used and acquire permits before they use hydraulic fracturing. The process involves injecting water, sand and chemicals into deep rock formations to release oil or natural gas."

"A $1bn International Medical City (IMC) planned for Salalah in Oman will open its first phase in 2016, a top official has revealed. Dr Mohammed Al Sofayan, CEO of Apex Medical Group, the company behind the project, said phase two of the medical city is slated to start operating four years later."
