The measures will include new water projects, a plan to upgrade the Palestinian territories’ cellular network, and a project for a new fuel pipeline from Israel to the West Bank. They aim to build support for the recently relaunched peace negotiations, which face strong political opposition on both sides separating the territories from Israel."

Merkel Gets Biggest Victory Since Kohl’s Reunification Vote - Bloomberg
"Angela Merkel won an overwhelming endorsement from German voters, putting the country’s first female chancellor on course for the biggest election tally since Helmut Kohl’s post-reunification victory of 1990. Merkel’s Christian Democratic bloc took 41.5 percent to 25.7 percent for the Social Democrats of Peer Steinbrueck in yesterday’s election, according to results from all 299 districts. That leaves her short of a majority and needing a coalition partner to govern Europe’s biggest economy."

Motor industry: Look, no hands - FT.com
"Carmakers may dream of providing hour-long commutes spent replying to emails or school runs where parents help their children revise their times tables, but lawyers and insurers have nightmares about crashes for which responsibility lies with a defective microchip rather than a person. “Driverless cars will be on our roads by 2020,” says Mike Woodward, automotive partner at Deloitte, the professional services firm. “But there’s a storm brewing ... Who exactly will be responsible if someone gets killed?”"
